Program Details

Day 1 | Journey into the Rainforest

1:00 pm Departure from Puerto Maldonado

2-hour car transfer along the Interoceanic Highway and local dirt road to the river village of Lucerna

Transfer to a comfortable motorized canoe for a 2–3 hour boat journey (depending on water levels) through remote rainforest waterways

Approx. 5:30 pm Arrival at Lago Soledad

Check-in and time to relax

7:00 pm Dinner

Day 2 | Oxbow Lake & Rainforest Trails

6:00 – 8:00 am Early-morning lake outing on our large catamaran paddle boat, with coffee or tea

8:00 am Full breakfast with fresh fruit, homemade bread, açai bowl, and eggs of your choice

9:30 – 11:30 am Guided 3 km rainforest walk, visiting millennial trees, an ornate hawk-eagle nest (bird presence varies), and searching for monkeys

1:00 pm Lunch

4:00 pm Afternoon lake outing, with optional piranha fishing

Return after dark while searching for caimans

7:00 pm Dinner

Day 3 | Canopy & Floodplain Forest

6:00 – 8:00 am Canopy tower visit, scanning for monkeys and parrots from the 32-metre-high tower

8:00 am Full breakfast

9:30 am – 12:00 pm 4.5 km island walk through beautiful floodplain forest with Machiguenga local guides

1:00 pm Lunch

3:30 pm Afternoon river cruise in search of tapirs or jaguars

7:00 pm Dinner

Day 4 | Macaw Clay Lick & Departure

5:30 – 6:00 am Early departure to the macaw clay lick near Lucerna

7:30 – 9:00 am Breakfast in the boat while observing macaws as they descend to feed

(Timing depends on weather and seasonal conditions)

10:00 am Departure from Lucerna by road to Puerto Maldonado

12:00 pm Arrival in Puerto Maldonado

Drop-off at airport or restaurant
